Chipotle sure is falling down a rabbit hole. How disheartening.
I had no idea billions have depleted. I remember the numbers only amounting in the millions during my senior honors capstone presentation.
Dole and Tesla Crises vs. Chipotle
The article posed a question asking why Chipotle’s E. coli crises (only resulting in human sickness) seemed to overshadow Dole and Tesla crises, that (by contrast) led to human deaths. I think this is due to less media coverage on these Dole and Tesla crises. Maybe there are also clauses in victim compensation packages which state that the families or the media can not report on the deaths. Nevertheless, it still is odd that the media added more salience to human sickness (with Chipotle), rather than human lives taken away!
I wonder when Chipotle will implement this food traceability program? It sounds promising.
Food sanitation after the outbreak
I can’t believe one quote highlighted that all food managers completed was food temperature checking. That’s it? This needs to change.
Chipotle just needs more motivated and ingenious top-level leaders. These current leaders and investors are out of touch.
Employee Morale, Salaries, and RestaurateurProgram
Chipotle needs to intrinsically motivate their employees more than what they are currently doing. Who would have thought that some employees took pride in cutting bell peppers and lettuce? In regard to salaries, I think if employees are happier than they will be more open to a lower salary. Rather than increasing salaries to $15, Chipotle could easily find a middle-ground between their current $9/hr. salary and the desired $15/hr. salary. Either way, I think employees must be intrinsically motivated. Perhaps, the restaurateur program will add more intrinsic motivation to the workplace.
Monty Morgan no longer Co-CEO
Did you know that Steve Ells is now sole CEO? No more Monty. This switch occurred in December 2016. I read this here
All in all, maybe 2017 will be a striving year for Chipotle. I have faith in Ells and Chipotle’s vision. Chipotle just needs more motivated and ingenious top-level leaders. These current leaders and investors are out of touch. Chipotle needs me as co-CEO.
